Yes! Finally!

Mom got a job! After years as a stay at home mom she finally ventured into the work force and got herself a job. So proud and happy for you Mom.

Update:

The reason I’m so excited is that ever since dad died, the social service was hounding and giving my mom a really hard time. Mom doesn’t speak English very well, has absolutely no job experience (but lots of volunteering), and has been busy taking care of me and my younger siblings for a very long time. So that was a big hurdle to overcome - you need experience to get a job but you need a job to gain the experience. A ridiculous, hair tearing, vicious cycle that’s very hard to get out of.

On top of that me and my mom wear a head scarf and cover all of our body except our face and hands. So, when my mom took the 6 month training in cooking, kitchen help, and hospitality - we assumed that the certificate and work experience during the training would be enough. But not so, the places she applied to insisted she take off her skirt and wear pants and had a hard time accepting her head wear. Mom of course left each one refusing to budge an inch. It was a very difficult time but God in his mercy finally gave her an opportunity and Mom is very excited. I’m happy for her - this is her first paying job and it must be both scary and exciting for her.
