Going to the movies

La la la la la. Trying to kill time till 2 (tick tock tick tock goes the clock) in which I will have to run and catch the bus to the mall. Out of the damn house for once in weeks! Sad but true. I’m seeing Memoirs of a Geisha and then hopefully will grab a bite to eat, with a friend that I haven’t been in contact for some time now. It’s going to be a good day I can tell already; she’s hilariously funny and always has some good stories to dish out. Keeps me in stitches, that girl does.

I’ve liked reading the book by Arthur Golden, it was light, fun and quite interesting. It was amazing at times how well a Caucasian American could capture the Japanese geisha culture; the details were fantastic. I hope the movie stays true to it as much as possible. I hate it when movies twist and greatly exaggerate scenes to appease the audience. I just want to see the book told in moving pictures. Nothing less, nothing more.

P.S. New years was a predictably uneventful bore. I went home after work at 6, watched some t.v., entertained a few guests and slept at 11 o'clock. I even missed watching how the rest of the world celebrated on the nightly news. On the bright side, I woke up refreshed and ready to heartily slap the new year on the back!
