C.I.C.E '06

I participated as both an organizer and exhibitor of the C.I.C.E event held on Sat. Aug 19th. It was a beautiful day and I thoroughly enjoyed myself exploring the 20 different countries that were showcasing their cultural diversity - about 10,000 people showed up and we had such an incredible time. I’m still reeling from the experience - I’m very tired and exhausted but in a good way. The food was delicious, the performers entertaining (esp. the children, so cute! with their sweet faces and ethnic clothing in the Kids Fashion Show) and the best part was the ladies giving the crowds mendhi designs. I paid $5 for a beautiful intricate flower design to be done my palm from the tips of my fingers to just past my wrist. I’m staring at it as I write, it turned a deep maroon hue overnight and the looping flowers practically jump out of my hand - the mendhi art was the most popular with the folks. Although it’s often exclusively for women, some men lined up for their turn, confidently secure in their masculinity. :-)
